I happened upon the Baolong Home Hotel walking back from lunch one day and popped in. It's a Chinese-run hotel not necessarily catering to the international tourist crowd but it's clean, modern and well-located so it would be great for tourists searching for something inexpensive but not back-packer.
Location:
The Baolong Home Hotel is located down a lane just north of Nanjing West Road, one of the main east-west arteries of Shanghai. This section of Nanjing West Road is right in the center of the city, close to Jing An Temple, the Shanghai Convention Center and most of the high-end shopping on Nanjing Road.

Accommodation:
Rooms are simple but clean and modern. Rooms have flat-screen TVs and large bathrooms with all the usual toiletries. There are several different types of rooms available including twin beds, doubles, kings and large "business" suites. There's a nice lobby downstairs and also some tables and benches outside to enjoy nice weather.
