Question: How Long is the Great Wall of China?
Answer: In April 2009, researchers from China's State Administration of Cultural Heritage and the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping discovered Ming-era parts of the wall that show the Wall to be nearly 4,000 kilometers longer than originally thought. The two-year study puts the Wall today at approximately 8,850km (~5,500 miles).

A visit to the Great Wall is truly one of the most memorable and impressive experiences you’ll have in China. While the new discovery doesn’t mean you can happily stroll an extra few thousand kilometers (much of the Wall is disrepair), you can find stretches that are fascinating to hike along.
