Guide Comments:
- It's unusual to think about going all the way to Shanghai to sit in a European cafe sipping a Viennese coffee, but that's the beauty of Shanghai. You can.
- We love this little hide-away, it's tucked down one of our favorite streets in the French Concession: Shaoxing Road. We often go early to grab Sunday brunch with our son and then take him to the tiny but interesting Shaoxing Park across the road. The cafe has a simple Continental-style brunch: cheese, cold cuts, good breads, cereals and fruit. They make great coffees and some of the Viennese cakes are as good as you would get in Austria. My German husband swears by the Kaiserschmarrn - a thick pancake with raisins and powdered sugar.
- The Vienna Cafe is a great place for a pit-stop on a walking tour of the French Concession. Stop in for a coffee and then continue your way down to Taikang Road, a fun maze of alleys to browse around.
