The Manchu people came from Chinas northeast Manchuria. They established segregated rule over the Chinese, but incorporated many Ming elements and eventually adopted many Chinese traditions. For years the Qing rule strengthened and broadened China. The empire expanded and included parts of Mongolia, Tibet, Nepal and Central Asia. Qing rulers continued to block Westerners from having much influence but that would soon end.
War with Western powers led to the weakening and eventual fall of the Qing in 1911.
