Notes:
Tang rule garnered a large blow in a lost battle with Arabs and soon rebellion led to its end. Ensuing was a period of rebellion and warring states. The Five Dynasty/Ten Kingdoms period is subdivided as follows:
  • Later Tang, “tahng”, 923-936
  • Later Jin, “jihn”, 936-946
  • Later Han, “hahn”, 947-950
  • Later Zhou, “joh”, 951-960
