Sara Naumann has never lost her wanderlust. She was born in Tokyo but grew up in Chestnut, IL (population 300) which inspired her to explore her world. After living and traveling for four years in Japan and then the US, she now calls Shanghai home.

Experience:

Sara is a traveler who happens to write. Her publications include work in a local anthology Shanghai Lu: a Collection of Stories by Women Writers, but her passion is travel writing. Her articles have appeared in various publications and books including Urbanatomy: Shanghai 2008 and CityWeekend Shanghai.

A degree in Japanese took her to Tokyo where she spent over four years working and studying. She traveled extensively in Japan and throughout Asia, including solo trips to China, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore. Travel experiences fueled her passion for Asia, and after four years back in the US, when an opportunity came to live in Shanghai, she jumped on it.

Education:

Sara received her BA in Asian Studies, focusing on Japanese, and International Studies from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She is currently studying practical Mandarin Chinese.

From Sara Naumann:

China is a dynamic country and it's worth checking out now to witness in person how progress and development are giving China such a dramatic face lift. Old and new are colliding at every intersection and rural lane. China has so much to offer the traveler whatever the passion, be it natural wonders like the karst mountains in Guilin or man-made spectacles like the Great Wall. Take in a fantastically modern city such as Shanghai, or wander about ancient villages that haven't changed since Ming times. There is something for everyone in China.
