My husband and I had a lunch date at our favorite M-on-the-Bund last weekend and after a delicious meal, we decided to go for a little walk up the Bund. We stopped into the boutique in the Fairmot Peace Hotel just to have a look around. The lobby of the Peace Hotel is rather a joy to walk through so we decided to have a peek inside.
The boutique, called X Style, is crammed full of all kinds of locally-sourced art, curios, jewelry, accessories and books. I found a set of vintage luggage tags from various famous hotels in Asia that I had never seen anywhere else. We spoke with the proprietor who informed us that she, herself, goes around finding just the right objects to go into her shop. She had worked with a Shanghai-based designer to create the vintage set of tags.
If you're strolling the Bund, then X Style is definitely worth a stop in to stock up on gifts for family and friends. With all the mass-production in China, it's nice to come away knowing you found something unique.
