Pho No. 1 – Yummy Noodles and a Good Place for Kids to Eat

Sunday December 28, 2008
My favorite restaurant in my neighborhood (now that Face has closed) is Pho No. 1. Serving the most authentic Vietnamese beef noodles soup, pho bo, that we’ve had outside of Hanoi, it’s a cosy little place tucked down the alleys off Taikang Road in Shanghai.

Aside from great food, the best thing about it is their kids’ corner. The proprietress has brought in her grandchildren's cast-off toys and put together a lovely little play area for the kids. My son gobbled his noodles and beef all the while playing Hello Kitty meets the Transformers. My family enjoyed pho bo, our 333 beers and a relaxing lunch.
