Not Sure Where to Eat in Shanghai? Try Shintori Null II

Tuesday May 29, 2007
You’ve been good, you’ve been in China for over a week and have eaten Chinese food for nearly every meal. Now you just want a break from the bright lights and white tablecloths…you’re ready for something different.

Well, I say stick with the Asian thing – you’re on the continent after all – and give Shintori Null II a try. I call it “pseudo-Japanese” but it’s avant-garde Japanese with a Chinese flair. The bamboo walkway draws you in (see photo) to a tranquil space off the main street and over the threshold you enter a warehouse space that is unlike anything you’ve (likely) ever seen.
