Contemporary Chinese Art: The 2006 Shanghai Biennale

If contemporary art interests you then now is a perfect time to visit Shanghai and take in the 2006 Biennale while you are at it. Shanghai's art scene is developing rapidly and in the last year, a warehouse-turned-avant garde art district on Moganshan Road has become the center for many small but interesting galleries.

The Biennale takes place from September 5-November 5, 2006. The Shanghai Art Museum hosts the primary exhibition but a number of other galleries on Moganshan Road and in the surrounding area are involved in making this year's theme "Hyper Design" an interesting view into what's happening in the world of contemporary Chinese art.
